Ta|xin [nlat. Taxus = Eibe (Bot.); ↑ -in (3)], das; -s, -e: giftiges, stickstoffhaltiges tricycl. Diterpen-Derivat aus Nadeln u. Früchten der Eibe, das lähmend auf Herz u. ZNS wirkt.

Taxin
 
[zu lateinisch taxus »Eibe«] das, -s, giftiges Alkaloid aus den Nadeln und Samen der Gemeinen Eibe. Eine Taxinvergiftung ist durch Erbrechen, Durchfall, Pupillenerweiterung, Krämpfe und Schock gekennzeichnet. Der Tod erfolgt durch Atemlähmung. Die Behandlung besteht in resorptionsverhindernden Maßnahmen (Auslösen von Erbrechen, Gabe von Aktivkohle).
